Proposed stories: Hansel and Gretel, Rapunzel, Little Red Riding Hood, The Frog King, Juniper Tree.
Show information: The nature of the performance will be promenade, where the audience will be guided around the school site by pupils in role as characters from other fairy tales. The stories are written in a narrative format, which lends themselves to ensemble approaches as well as key lead roles. Parts will be assigned, but there is always scope to expand the role you are given if you show willing and opportunity presents itself.
Hansel and Gretel - a classic fairy tale about a brother and sister who become lost in a dark forest and discover a mysterious house made of sweets. What begins as a dream come true soon turns into a nightmare when they encounter a cunning witch who plans to trap them forever. Using courage, quick thinking, and their strong bond as siblings, Hansel and Gretel must outsmart the witch and find their way home. It's a story of bravery, resilience, and the power of family in the face of danger.
Rapunzel - is the story of a girl taken from her parents by a powerful enchantress and locked away in a tall tower deep in the forest. With no door or stairs, the only way to reach her is by climbing her extraordinarily long hair. When a young prince discovers the tower, the two form a secret bond, but their meetings are eventually uncovered, leading to separation, hardship, and a long journey of endurance.
The Frog King - tells the story of a spoiled princess who loses her golden ball in a pond and is helped by a strange frog. In return, she promises to be his friend, but when the frog comes to claim his reward, she is reluctant to keep her word. Through a series of unexpected events, the princess learns about honesty, loyalty, and looking beyond appearances.
Little Red Riding Hood - is the tale of a young girl sent through the forest to visit her grandmother. Along the way, she meets a cunning wolf who tricks her into revealing where she's going. Racing ahead, the wolf disguises himself as Grandmother and waits for Red Riding Hood to arrive. What follows is a tense encounter between innocence and deception, where courage and quick thinking become vital.
Juniper Tree - The Juniper Tree is one of the darkest yet most powerful Grimm fairy tales. It tells the story of a young boy whose jealous stepmother commits a terrible crime and tries to hide the truth. Through a series of magical events centred on a juniper tree and a mysterious bird, justice is slowly restored and the innocent are remembered. Despite its grim beginning, the story becomes one of transformation, remembrance, and the triumph of truth over cruelty
Each performance will be done in a different style and formation across the school.

Rehearsals will begin the week commencing 21st September. You must be able to commit to the schedule of rehearsal. The timetable attached is a draft schedule and is subject to amendment, but I hope this gives you an indication of the demand on your time between now and show week.
